How to Begin а Blog Thаt Mаkes Money Online

How To Start a Blog Website For Profit?

You can begin your site for free with blogger or among the other free blogging platforms out there, but I don’t recommend it for two main reasons.

Many people run into the ‘free blog’ trap.

However, the first reason that I would avoid free blogging platforms, such as Blogger, is that when your site is hosted on Blogger, the domain, content, and traffic are theirs, not yours.

Google, who owns Blogger, is actually fully in control of your blog and they can make changes at any time. Do you want that to happen?

The second reason you should steer clear of free blog hosting programs when you’re building your site, empire or company you want to be able to monetize it as you grow with ease.

This is why I recommend and personally use WordPress as my blog platform.

If you want to set up your own website, or blog, I highly recommend Bluehost. It will give you the best advantage to earn money with your website. Using my link it starts at only $3.95/month – which is a great offer.  Bluehost is the best web hosting package that gives you a FREE Domain, 1-Click WordPress Installation. Get started here.

How Long Does It Take To Earn Money From a Blog?

The first thing you should do when starting a blog that you expect will bring in a healthy income for you one day is plan things out.

That’s right; you should sit down for a few hours and make a business plan.

That will help make sure you don’t miss any of the details you’ll need to be successful.

There is no specific timeframe to guarantee you will earn money straight away with a blog.

Rather, starting a blog is a marathon – a long-term game – that will pay off increasingly over time.

Be sure you consider the following important areas:

  • What the main theme of your blog is going to be
  • The monetization plans you’ll utilize
  • A spending budget
  • A marketing growth plan
  • How to get visitors and traffic
  • and an often-forgotten part of several business plans, the exit plan

Most highly successful blogs are closely themed and it can take some time to really get clear on your theme or niche.

That is okay, just be prepared to get stuck in and learn as much as you can to increase the profits based on your level of effort.

Closely themed means they concentrate closely on a specific subject or niche, such as local residential real estate, working from home, online income methods, ’60’s muscle cars, or personal finance.

This focus will help you build a core base of loyal readers and subscribers.

These are very significant for the immediate and long-term success of your site.

Pro Tip: Having a large, lively subscriber list adds lots of value to your site should you need to sell it.

It is great to choose a topic/theme that you’re passionate about.

But, if you’re having difficulty selecting a theme, look for one with huge profit potential.

There will be more on this later.

Pro-Active Steps For How To Begin a Blog That Makes Money

Decide what you’ll call your site and get your domain name.

Bluehost is giving away free domains with their hosting package here today.

These are very affordable and will help you sidestep the problems of using a free hosting platform.

You will own the domain and will be free to do with it as you please. Your blog will be an asset that you control.

The next decision you will have to make is what blogging platform you’ll use.

The two largest are Movable Type and WordPress. WordPress is open source, meaning essentially it’s free.

Since its open source, many programmers freely create things for WordPress, so there are a huge number of add-ons, widgets, templates, and plugins available for it. I really like this.

You can even publish your WordPress site in your iPhone now.

Movable Type is not open source, but you may still be able to receive it free, as many web hosting companies offer it as part of their hosting package.

It too has many different things available to enhance the functionality and look of blogs published with it.

As I mentioned I use WordPress because you can have many fantastic, and profitable blogs with their publishing system.

So you’ve got your blog up, and you’re posting to it with reckless abandon.  How can you make some money for your efforts? This ‘s a balancing act.

You need to blog about a topic that interests you, or maintaining an aggressive posting schedule will become very tricky.

You also need to share your blog posts every day, or you won’t make any money.

How To Choose a Profitable Blog Niche

To help find what site subjects can earn you some good profits, head to Google and see what keywords are going for these days.

Use the free Google keyword tool in Google AdWords.

You can type in keywords, and keyword phrases and the instrument will show an estimate of cost per click that advertisers are willing to pay for advertisements targeting a given keyword or phrase.

Pro Tip: Check the number of advertisers to see if it is high competition. This is actually good for your blog website.

Keywords which are relatively expensive and have substantial competition mean that lots of advertisers are willing to pay fairly large amounts of money for those keywords.

In theory, that means that there is a gain to be made by creating content which features those keyword phrases.

Remember it is just an idea, and there are two schools of thought on earning money from your blog.

One strategy is, you can try to discover a narrow niche with little competition, and dominate it.

The other strategy is to go to a very large, but profitable niche and try to have enough visitors to skim some gain from the niche.

You’ll have the advantage of being the little fish in an abundant ocean or a large fish in a pond.

You will find successful bloggers using both approaches as proof.

How To Monetize a Blog

Next, you will want to decide on a monetization plan for your blog.

In most cases, you’ll use a combination of them to bring home the bacon.

The three main strategies are:

  1. Sales of your products or services
  2. Affiliate marketing
  3. Advertising.  This is normally contextual advertising, but some bloggers are successful with other forms, such as banner advertisements.

Affiliate Marketing Techniques

With affiliate marketing, you’ll be paid a commission for referring a visitor into a company’s site.

If the person you referred does the desired action, you’ll earn your commission.

In the vast majority of instances, the desired action means the visitor buys something or fills out a lead form.

Advertising with PPC

Contextual advertising automatically puts ads on your site that are targeted to your site from the context of your site.

The ad publishers have algorithms that look in your site and choose which of their advertiser’s advertisements would best go with your blog’s content.

In most cases, you’re subsequently paid a percentage of the advertising fee when one of your visitors clicks on the link from the ad.

This is known as pay per click advertising.

The leader is this is Google, using their AdWords/AdSense program.

Get More Website Visitors

To have a blog which makes money, you will need to have targeted visitors, the more, the better.

That’s largely a function of the content.

A large amount of good, original content (not content scraped from other blogger’s RSS feeds).

Some on-page search engine optimization techniques won’t hurt, but good, high-quality content will get you both search engine visitors, and repeat traffic from people that only want to read your stuff.

Final Note

To get started with how to begin a blog that makes money make sure you target the proper keywords in your articles and post titles.

Remember, you’re searching for profitable keywords that have relatively low competition.

By optimizing keywords and phrases people are actively searching for, you’ll do better in the search engine rankings, and you’ll be giving your readers exactly what they were searching for.

Subsequently, you need to apply for affiliate and advertising programs that will enable to monetise your blog.

That double whammy is an actual recipe for a profitable blog and huge money making  success.

I hope that you found this very valuable and I wish you the best of luck with your blogging journey.
