Artist Interview: Producer and Songwriter Ty The Artist

Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me! Please tell us a bit
about yourself and what you do currently…

I am a Producer/Songwriter and Singer that goes by the name Ty The Artist. I am from
Harlem NYC with my own Indie Label Harlem Music Group I am currently Re-branding and reinventing myself with my music and sound.

What inspired you to start creating your own music?

I have been creating music since I was like 13 years old. It has always been apart of
me. But my first inspirations that I can remember would definitely be Michael
Jackson and Marvin Gay.

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

There are a lot of highs and lows when it comes to being in the music business. I have seen
both ends personally. I have ghostwritten and gotten placements with plenty of known artists
and producers. But personally, to me every time I can release a song for people to vibe to or
produce a hit for an artist, I’m doing what I love. I am achieving my fulfillment for my
passion.

What do you have planned for this year?

2020 has already been very crazy with COVID-19, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. I
just want to keep my family and friends safe. Music-wise… I am going to continue to
release singles. I currently have 2 cover songs out with Cherish The Day by Sade and
Natale by Al B Sure. The whole month of July I have a total of 5 original singles
dropping! Selling beats and drum kits. Releasing a beat tape is in the works and I am
also looking to collaborate with independent artists so if you’re reading this and you
think we vibe feel free to get at me.

Who are the top 3 artists you’d love to work with? And why?

Timbaland… Why? Why not? He is what’s called a “SUPER-PRODUCER” Can’t tell me by
how that man be producing his music that he doesn’t have superpowers!! lol
I would like to do a song with Toni Braxton. I just feel that we would sound good on a
track together. And because she reminds me of one of my favorite female singers Anita Baker.
And then it would be a tossup between Diddy, R. Kelly, and Jermain Dupri.

Take a moment to close your eyes. Where do ideally you see yourself in 5
year’s time?

I see myself Mentoring new and upcoming artists off my Indie Label and still
releasing music. I want to achieve comfortability for my family through my
passion. God Willing.

Who or what is your greatest love?

My family and God

What book do you recommend most to others?

Any book that helps you and gives you more insight on what you want to do
with your life. We waste so much time doing jobs and things that we aren’t
even passionate about or want to do. My advice would be to find out what you
want to do and then start perfecting it. Everyday!

Can you give our readers 2 key tips for staying creative?

Stay consistent and remember that you are your brand.

Where is your happy place?

Studio, Gym, and with my family.

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring 3 things what would
they be?

Honestly, I have no idea lol It’s a desert so I definitely would need some
water.

How do you describe yourself in 5 words?

Leader, teacher, father, brother, Lion
