Spotlight Interview: Danny Helping Amazon FBA Sellers Reclaim Lost Money!

1. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me! Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you do currently…

seller locker amazon fbaHi Ruth, Thank you for having me! My name is Danny, and I am the Sales Director for Seller Locker. We specialize in finding and helping Amazon FBA Sellers reclaim lost money due to errors at the warehouse made by Amazon, which happens everyday, but our niche is in finding overcharges on pick and pack shipping fees.

There are some companies that do monitoring of just lost/damaged inventory and inbound shipping discrepancies, which we do as well, but we are the only company that monitors for overcharges on shipping per unit (and we also do a better job on the other categories but for more technical reasons).

Being that we are the only solution in the Amazon App store for pick and pack fee monitoring, we are growing very quickly. Seller Locker is fully compliant with Amazon terms and services, which should be very important to any seller when choosing a provider to work with on reimbursement claims. With all that said, believe it or not, Seller Locker is completely free to use unless we recover funds on your behalf.

2. What inspired this business venture?

Our CEO Joe was actually working for another firm, where he had suspected Amazon was
overcharging them on shipping. At first, it started as in house tool, but after they started
building out an automated solution, he quickly saw that this would be useful for all Amazon
FBA sellers, and took the solution to market. The firm he was working at initially recovered
tens of thousands of dollars almost immediately.

3. What has been your biggest achievement so far?

This company is only about a year old since formally going to market, but already many sellers from the top 100 grossing Amazon sellers are using our software. You wouldn’t believe the staggering numbers these sellers are making back on a monthly basis, just from reimbursements! For many of them, the biggest reimbursement category is FBA shipping fees,  which again, only SellerLocker monitors to date.

4. What are you working on for this year?

In the near future, the top priorities are to expand to additional reimbursement categories and
countries. We are putting the framework in place to monitor storage fees and customer
returns, and planning to be available in the UK and Canada next, but of course, global is the
long term goal. As we get requests for additional categories, we will continue adding them
one by one as well.

5. What fuels you to keeps you going each day?

It is very easy to stay motivated when you know how badly sellers need your service.
The best part about us is that we work on commission only, so there is really zero risk
for sellers. We don’t make money unless we recover money on your behalf.

6. Who are the top 3 celebrities/experts you’d love to work with? And why?

I am really celebrity agnostic actually; the biggest companies I’d like to work with are probably companies most people haven’t really heard of but do major volume on Amazon. What I’d really love is to service 100% of all FBA sellers out there eventually.

7. Take a moment to close your eyes. Where do you see yourself in 5 year’s time?

In the next 5 years we are hoping to not only provide reimbursement services to sellers,
but round out the other gaps in the Ecommerce eco-system. There is always room for
improvement for all types of software and processes. I think we have a good group of very
smart people and when the time comes, we’ll be able to provide more of what online
retailers need, but for now, I think we are taking care of a huge gap with the FBA
reimbursements.

8. Who or what is your greatest love?

I’ve always dreamt of owning the New York Knicks, which is funny because there have
been rumors lately that they might be for sale, unfortunately, I don’t have the billions of dollars in cash saved up quite yet :/

9. What book do you recommend most to others?

I’m not sure what one book I’d recommend, but I’d say to people be very wary of gurus and authors that claim you can become a millionaire with 4 hours of work a week, or anything along those lines. An Amazon business is a full-time business, even if you are doing it, “on the side”.

10. If you could get the perfect help from an online tax return service, what would they do for you?

In regards to the Amazon / Ecommerce world, there are great software services out there
to help with keeping track of taxes. I’d recommend doing your due diligence on functionality and price and finding the best provider to fit your needs.

11. Can you give our readers 2 key tips for staying focused on their success?

Due Diligence and Patience.

I really can’t stress this enough. Do research, and when you’re done, do more, and more, and more. You can never research something too much. Also keep in mind that even great businesses and business models can take a long time to develop. Don’t give up easy, but also don’t be afraid to cut your losses and pivot if you think that is the right thing to do along the way.

12. Where is your happy place?

Hmm, the lazy river at Atlantis in Bahamas maybe. Always had good times
there.

13.If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring 3 things what would they be?

I am not good at these questions because I’ll cheat my way out usually. Since I don’t see any limitations being posed here, 2 courtside Knicks Tickets against the Warriors, a chopper, and a pilot to fly me out 🙂
