What Are Retainers?

They are very different to a Recurring Invoice that mostly gets dispatched to a customer automatically.

The new retainers feature goes above that to help you. Below is a summary of what you can do with retainers:

  • Collect habitual patron repayments in advance

  • Forecast monthly income
  • Effectively control mission progress and keep away from scope creep
  • Set clear expectations with clients
  • Streamline invoicing

In a nutshell, Retainers help you work greater success with your clients and team.

Once you create a Retainer, you’ll be capable of invoicing your Client for a constant amount upfront and then music time closer to the Retainer.

And, if at the month nd, you have clocked more significant hours than the Retainer covered, you can get consignment effortlessly for that excess time on a one-time invoice.

Let’s use an example: Say your Client has you on Retainer for $1,000, working 10 hours per month. But you give up clocking 17 hours.

No stress, FreshBooks will robotically notify you that you’re 7 hours over.

Then you’ll even have the alternative to bill for these higher hours with a one-time invoice.

On the other side, if you work eight hours every month for that customer, the surplus hours won’t get conveyed.

Instead, FreshBooks will restart your Retainer, and you’ll begin the ensuing month with 10 hours once more.
