Saskia Chiesa is the founder of Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue, the largest guinea pig welfare organization in the U.S. She and other volunteers routinely care for up to 200 animals at a time in their Chatsworth location, where they offer health checkups, grooming, adoptions and sanctuary for guinea pigs deemed unsuitable for adoption. Last year, they adopted out 1,200 guinea pigs and have rescued thousands more since their start 18 years ago.
