In the Spotlight: Best-Selling Author and Relationship Expert Norva

Hi Norva! Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me! Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you do currently…

I am a relationship expert, business owner, best-selling author, wife and mother. I have been working with families for over 15 years. In the last couple years I have started doing more work online and as a result, I now attract and serve a more global audience. I predominantly work with wives, as I believe that when it comes to a marriage it only takes one person to start the process of enhancing a relationship. Having said that, a couple can make even faster progress if they are both willing to work on improving their relationship. Due to my work, I am now known as “The Relationship Change Catalyst” and I am also fondly called, “The Chief Wise Wife.”

What inspired you to do the My Honey and Money Marriage Seminar in London 9 July 2016?

My Honey and Money Marriage Seminar is a one-day event that I am hosting in conjunction with Ms Charmain Alleyne of Rebound Finance.
Together we aim to support couples in taking their relationship from Average to Amazing.
As an entrepreneur, I know how difficult and demanding our lives can become. If we do not make a conscious effort to make our relationship a priority it can slowly fall apart. It has happened to so many business owners and professionals. As you well know finance is a big deal, if a couple is not on the same page when it comes to how they use their income then that can lead to problems in many different areas in the marriage. That’s why we are encouraging them to come spend one day for the year, out of their busy schedule, with their spouse and see how their relationship can be uplifted and transformed.

Tell us about your book “Time To Go”?

The full title is “Time to Go: Leaving Emotional Abuse and other forms of Abusive Relationships.” It is intended to give individuals inspiration, information and motivation about how they, or someone they know who is in an abusive relationship, can wisely and skilfully leave the toxic situation.

The title of the book is raw and to the point because I believe I should not dress up the subject matter. I wrote the book for individuals in unhealthy, volatile romantic relationships. I want them to know without a doubt that they can escape this cycle; even when it seems like they are so dependent on an abuser that they cannot survive without them. In actual fact, this is how the abuser is consciously or unconsciously, programming a victim to think.  It will take a change of thinking to start the process to freedom.

I have a few actually but I shall quickly name five. The first was leaving my abuser. The second is being remarried with children in a super happy, healthy, loving relationship with my wonderful husband for 12 years. The third is having the courage to write the book, “Time To Go” which is now an Amazon best seller. The fourth is being able to positively impact the lives of thousands of individuals, especially women, by empowering them with tools and information toward them living more fulfilled lives. Last but not least beating cancer. Yes it’s a lot and all a part of my dynamic story.

What fuels you to keep you going each day?

That’s easy, what keeps me going each day is my wonderful family and seeing or hearing about the changes in the lives of individuals that my content and guidance makes.

How do you describe a ‘wise wife’ and how can a single woman develop into a wise wife? Later on, what are her responsibilities to ensure her partner is exceptional?

Anyone can be happy in their marriage but very few have the tools and ability to have such. The current culture in marriage is that divorce is the easy solution when a marriage isn’t working out, but there is a better way.

A Wise Wife™ is a powerful woman who chooses to work in partnership with her husband. She respects him as the man in the relationship. She watches her words, as she knows they are able to build or destroy her home. The aim is to be an asset instead of being a liability. She lives by a certain code of conduct that makes her achieve her goals. A wise wife is the source of joy in her home; an illuminating light and her husband can stand proudly in the knowledge that he is richer for having her in his life.

A single woman who would like to be happily married in the future can begin to read about the areas in her life that would help her be the best woman she can be on a daily basis. She should also set high standards and expectations both for herself and the way others are allowed to treat her. In my free ebook, “The Wise Wife Manifesto” there is a list of the areas that individuals should focus on to do just that.

How can they both commit to success at the highest level in business and in the relationship?

For success in any area it takes dedication, smart work ethics, decisiveness and passion for what you do. If you have no friendship, goals and passion in your relationship you are in an endurance event more than a loving marriage. Part of that goal should be to have the same approach to business or whatever career path each individual is on. You always have to keep at the back of your mind that what you feed grows, so set aside different times for business and pleasure. Oh, one thing we mustn’t forget is that variety is still the spice of life, so make your spouse feel loved; God forbid, should your relationship come to an end, you want to have a clear conscience that you did all that you could.

Can you tell us your big goal for 12 months time?

In the next 12 months I would like to grow the number of speaking engagements that I have on a yearly basis, plus expand my reach so that my message that women should be enjoying real fulfilment in their lives gets heard far and wide. I would also like to start my podcast title, “ Enrich or Ditch? The Marriage Show for her” and offer more products to meet the needs of my target audience.

If you could get the perfect help from a tax consulting service, what would they do for you?

When it comes to taxes I want to be able to know clearly what my best next move should be to ensure I’m not cheating myself or others. Tax could be a very taxing subject as an entrepreneur so as we the business owners do what we do best we should also let the tax experts help us enjoy the results of our labour, minus the stress that will come with doing it ourselves.

Take a moment to close your eyes. Where do you see yourself in 10 year’s time?

Well for starters in a new home, traveling more with my family, having more structured down-time, and having an expanded, great quality circle of friends. I would also expect to see great business growth and be able to do even more for my extended family, in particular my mum and other senior members of our extended family.
