Artist Interview: Music Producer Kjaelen From Queens New York

Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me! Please tell us a bit about yourself and what you do currently…

I am a music producer from Far Rockaway, Queens New York, that moved to Los Angeles California right out of high school. I am Puerto Rican and Dominican. At the age of 11 I taught myself the guitar and piano. I was raised by an independent mother, struggling to make ends meet and saw a lot growing up that made me mature faster than my peers. I saw her grind and get her masters in social work. I value my mother a lot. Safe to say I’m a momma’s boy.

What inspired you to start creating your own music?

Something that inspired me to start creating my own music was my “Feelings”. Knowing that I can put how I feel at the current moment or how I feel about a time and being able to create that feeling and display it to others

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

Some of my biggest achievements this far was me moving to LA at the age of 17 and growing to who I am as a person.

What do you have planned for this year?

My plan this year is to produce 12 songs this year and drop my first album that I’m producing, writing, mixing, and engineering myself on my birthday 10/28/2020.

Who are the top 3 celebrities/artists you’d love to work with? And why?

Drake, J.Cole, and Travis Scott

I would love to work with Drake because of how he displays his emotions on every song he does, but also because his work ethic is unmatched and I love to work with people with great work ethics.

I would love to work with J.cole because again work ethic is important to me. I love how explains his views, his lifestyle, and childhood with strong words and being able to entertain/education.

I would love to work with Travis Scott because Travis is an amazing artist because he knows how to move his audience with loud and high reverb lyrics and with sounds that aren’t in every songs but also because of his work ethic too.

Take a moment to close your eyes. Where do ideally you see yourself in 5 year’s time?

In 5 years I will be 25 years old, ideally, I want to be a well-known producer in the music industry and be able to work with amazing artists from all over the world, along with building my brand and growing as an entrepreneur.  I want to give back to my community.

Who or what is your greatest love?

Right now my greatest love is my passions and that’s music. I fell in love with music at a young age. I ran to music whenever I felt alone, sad, scared, etc. I taught myself how to play the guitar and the piano when I was young. Music taught me how to love.

Can you give our readers 2 key tips for staying creative?

2 tips to stay creative is:

1. Go out and explore go see colors, monuments, rivers, etc. Get out your confront zone

2. Don’t overwork yourself/mind. Take a break and let everything come naturally because that’s when u get your best work done

Where is your happy place?

My happy place is either my phone/laptop with headphones and music.

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring 3 things what would they be?

My speakers, Laptop and a source of Electricity

How do you describe yourself in 5 words?

Passionate, Independent, Idealist, Visionary, and Determined
